Photos: Winter Wonders

The winter season for the Bulldogs, Blackbirds, and Dutchmen was hot on the court, on the mat, on the track, and in the pool. Some teams made it all the way to the state competition and some showed heart and determination in efforts to get to states.

The Berne-Knox-Westerlo Bulldogs showed speed in their inaugural year for indoor track. Here, Kara Sherwin, at top, hands the baton to Michelle Puzulis in the 200-meter relay on Dec. 9. Sherwin made it to the state qualifiers on Feb. 25 in the 55-meter dash and finished in 17th with a time of 7.82 seconds.

The Guilderland Dutchmen gave it their all on the way to state competition. Allison Rem shows her grace and flexibility during sectionals. Rem and three other gymnasts went to the state competition on March 3 and finished 35th on beam and 23rd on floor. Teammate Rachel Drislane finished 22nd in the state in the all-around.

The Voorheesville Blackbirds dribbled their way back, bottom left, to the state competition where the girls’ basketball team won its 11th sectional title but fell in the regional final to Northeastern Clinton in a well-played game.
