The Voorheesville Blackbirds boys’ varsity volleyball team rebounded from losing most of its starters from last season’s Regional Championship team, to win back-to-back sectional championships. The Birds then battled — with James Connolly at the net — for another regional championship on March 5 against Sauquoit Valley but lost in a thrilling five-set match.

Reaching a milestone: The Berne-Knox-Westerlo boys’ basketball team made the Class C quarterfinals before losing to Mayfield on Feb. 19 at Hudson Valley Community College. The team had two 1,000 point scorers this season — Zach Hilton and Justin Houck. Houck, center, congratulates Hilton after he hit the 1,000-point mark while their coach, Tim Moseman, looks on.
