Hand fight: Eight Guilderland wrestlers made their way to the Glens Falls Civic Center last weekend for the Section 2 Championships, and the Dutchmen placed 18 out of 21 teams with 32 points; six of the eight wrestlers lost their first match. Here, David Wolanski, right, takes on Schenectady’s Josh Reed in the quarterfinals of 120 pounds; Reed won, 14 to 6.

Looking for help? Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s 99-pound wrestler, Sal Audino, extends his left arm while being held by Schuylerville’s Orion Anderson during the first-round match last Saturday during the Section 2 Championships. Anderson pinned Audino in 1:30, and went on to win the title on Sunday. Audino lost to Frank Dawark, 8 to 0, in the wrestlebacks.

Gone to sleep: Mohonasen’s Mahesh Bhoge cradles Guilderland’s Patrick McLaughlin during the 126-pound first-round match that Bhoge won, 9 to 1, in Glens Falls last Saturday for the Section 2 Championships. McLaughlin won his next consolation match against Ballston Spa’s Chris Northrup before losing to Shaker’s Chris Pavelec, 11 to 1.

Stare down: Rob Haas placed sixth at 152 pounds for Berne-Knox-Westerlo at the Section 2 Championships last weekend. Here, Haas, left, starts his first-round match against Catskill’s Mike Martinez; Haas won by fall in 20 seconds. Haas lost in the quarterfinals, but pinned two more opponents before losing his final two matches.

Framed between the referee’s legs, Guilderland’s Andy Cummings wrestles Amsterdam’s Francisco Alejandro last Saturday during the Section 2 Championships. As the number-one seed at 195 pounds, Cummings was upset by Queensbury’s Chris Goudy in the semifinals on Sunday; Cummings ended up in third place.

Praying for answers: The Guilderland wrestlers did not have a great showing at the Section 2 Championships at the Glens Falls Civic Center last weekend. Here, Sean Horihan is under the grasp of Devin Greenlaw, of South Glens Falls, during the 170-pound first-round match last Saturday; Greenlaw won, 6 to 1. Horihan won one consolation match before being eliminated by Shaker’s Andrew Horval, who took fifth place.
