Westerlo Library Notes for Thursday, February 23, 2017

Join the Quilting and Fiber Arts Group this Saturday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. at the Westerlo Library.  We’re talking about wool with a demo of felting wool and silk together. For “show and share,” bring something made from wool and any questions you have.

Led by Lila Hollister Smith, this group is open to crafters who use fabric, yarns or thread at all skill levels. The group meets once a month on the fourth Saturday of each month and new members, and casual visitors are always welcomed.

Tax forms

Would you like to get ahead of the curve with your taxes? We currently have paper copies of the basic federal 1040 forms and instructions and reproducible copies of most of the federal tax forms that we will copy for you at no cost. If you need other specialized forms, ask at the desk and we’ll help you find them online.

Coupon exchange

Do you hate throwing away coupons, even when you can’t use them? Well, we’ve got the solution.  Donate your unused (unexpired!) coupons to the coupon exchange box and, in turn, help yourself to the coupons that others have donated.

Your public library:  A good value in ways you never imagined.

Library book bags

Speaking of a good value, our new book bags are also great reusable grocery totes. Only $5 each, all proceeds benefit the library.  And, every time you use them you’ll be raising awareness of the Westerlo Public Library.

After school

Join Miss Lee on Monday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for homework help, games, crafts, puzzles, music, and a lot more. Programs will also include storytelling, hands-on demonstrations, and visits from special guests. Lee is also available on Thursdays from 3 to 8 p.m. for homework help.

Story time

From 11 a.m. to noon on Wednesday mornings Miss Lee presents stories, songs, and movement activities designed for infants to children up to 5 years old. In addition to developing pre-reading skills, singing, moving to music, and playing instruments all help foster a sense of rhythm and timing that are essential elements in developing the part of a child’s brain that shapes math skills.

Storytimes are also a great opportunity to meet other parents of small children in Westerlo.

Technology Walk-In Wednesdays

Do you have a new Kindle or Nook, but don’t know how to download books? Need to brush up on your computer skills – or obtain basic skills?  See Amy on Wednesdays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for free, personalized, one-on-one instruction.
