BERNE — A fire on Long Road left a family’s home completely destroyed this weekend.

On Saturday, Dec. 13, at about 1 p.m., the Berne Fire Department arrived at the home of Bonnie Krasher and Jim Loso to find it completely in flames.

“There was smoke and fire throughout the whole house when we got there,” said Peter Becker, Berne’s fire chief. “We were there until 6 o’ clock that night,” he said, when the fire was finally put out.

The Berne Fire Department had help from the Onesquethaw, New Salem, and Knox fire departments. Gallupville’s fire department was on standby.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Becker said. “I’m just glad nobody got hurt.”
