Jim and Wanda Gardner to be honored at library gala
To the Editor:
We at the Altamont Free Library have just wrapped up two annual events. On Sunday, Dec. 6, the lights around the gazebo in Orsini Park were lit in memory of 137 individuals. We thank all of those who donated; the Altamont Public Works Department for setting the lights up; and our coordinator, Eric Kuck, for making this special ceremony possible. The names of those honored are in the Library Notes column of the paper.
Also, as part of the Altamont Community Tradition Victorian Holiday, the library held a drawing for the beautiful quilt that Ruth Dickinson was able to secure for us. We thank all of those who purchased tickets. This year’s winner is Karen Murphy of Guilderland. Proceeds from this drawing are used to help support our summer concerts.
At this time, we would also like to remind everyone to mark your calendars for our ninth annual gala, which will be held on Feb. 6, 2016. We are pleased to announce that this year we will honor Jim and Wanda Gardner for all they have done for our library over their many years of owning The Enterprise.
The theme is “Three Cheers For 100 Years, Launching the Library’s 100th-Year Activities.” The evening will feature wonderful food, great company, and our silent and live auctions. If you have any silent or live auction items or ideas you’d like to donate or suggest, please do call the library and let us know. Further information will be available on the library website, in the library, and through mailings after the first of the year.
Finally, as we head toward the end of 2015, on behalf of the Altamont Free library board I would like to thank you for all you do as a community to support us as we work to serve your diverse needs. We look forward to the year ahead and celebrating our 100th with you.
