Hundreds of donations for Hilltown Christmas, Teachers are humbled and overjoyed by kindness and community spirit
To The Editor:
The Berne-Knox-Westerlo Teachers’ Association has been collecting food and toys on behalf of the Albany County Sheriff's as part of its Hilltown Christmas Program for nearly three decades now. Each year, the need grows larger, but so does the response of our teachers, staff, and community.
This year, as part of our collection drive, teachers staffed a collection table at the boys’ basketball game this past Saturday. The response from our community was overwhelming!
Toys, food, and monetary donations flowed in throughout the night. A generous patron put a $100 bill in the donation jar.
We are humbled and overjoyed by the kindness and community spirit on display that night and throughout our collection period. The BKWTA would like to thank everyone who made our collection a huge success. We have collected hundreds of toys to go along with several hundreds of dollars to help families in need this holiday season.
We would like to thank The Altamont Enterprise for helping us get the word out about the toy drive. Ms. Amy Pulliam, who won the drawing Saturday night, generously donated it back to the toy drive. We cannot thank all of you enough for your help and support through this holiday collection.
