To the Editor:

Saturday, Nov. 26, will be the ninth annual Run Off That Turkey Trot 5K, starting at 9 a.m. at the Altamont Elementary School.

The event is a benefit for the Helderberg Running Club's Junior Olympic Team and also helps supply the Altamont Community Food Pantry. We are asking anyone who wants to take part in our event to bring a dry-good item for the pantry.

The trot will feature a 5K run and a two-mile community walk. All those who pre-register will receive running gloves. There will also be refreshments provided by Guilderland Hannaford, door prizes, and awards in 16 age groups, along with a walk division.

Sign-up is available online at www.zippyreg.com and pre-registration fees are $18 for those 69 years and younger, and $15 for those 70 and up. Race day registration is available and the fee is $25 for all ages.

Volunteers are always welcome, and they will also receive gloves for their help.
