Teen killed when car hits tree

GUILDERLAND — A young man died on Sunday morning after crashing his car into a tree on Fuller Station Road.

At approximately 11:02 a.m., police responded to reports of a car off the road, and, upon their arrival, found Ganesha Deodat, 19, of Schenectady, had already died, according to a release from the Guilderland Police Department.

Deodat was the driver of the vehicle, and he had no passengers; no other cars appeared to be involved in the accident, police said.

Deodat, of Eleventh Street in Schenectady, died as a direct result of injuries related to the crash, according to Sergeant Eric Batchelder. He said drugs and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the accident, although the investigation is ongoing.

Guilderland Police were assisted at the scene by the Guilderland Center Fire Department and Guilderland Emergency Services.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Guilderland Police Department at 356-1501.
