Hill sentenced to one year for DWI
Brenda Hill, who was arrested in March for driving drunk in Bethlehem, was sentenced this week to one year in Albany County’s jail, before the Honorable Peter A. Lynch in Albany County Court.
Hill, 49, of Sloansville, New York had pleaded guilty in August to two felonies — first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and two counts of driving while intoxicated — and also to a misdemeanor — circumvention of an interlock device.
A release from the Albany County District Attorney’s Office said that events leading to her arrest unfolded this way: On March 24, at approximately 5 a.m., on Route 9W in Bethlehem, Hill was driving while under the influence of alcohol, knowing that her license was revoked, and without a court-ordered interlock device.
A civilian complaint for an erratic driver led police to stop her; she displayed signs of intoxication and admitted to having several mixed drinks, the release said. Hill failed field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol content level of .11.
This was Hill’s fifth offense related to drinking and driving. At the time of her March arrest, Hill was on probation for a 2014 felony DWI conviction in Schoharie County.
Assistant District Attorney Michael Shanley of the Vehicular Crimes Unit prosecuted the case.
