Buy items made with love to help those in need

To the Editor:

The New Scotland Senior Citizens will hold its annual sale of items knitted and crocheted again this year on Nov. 8, Election Day, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.  There are two locations: the town’s Wyman Osterhout Community Center in New Salem, and St. Matthew’s Church in Voorheesville.

These items made with love are a great bargain for gifts for the upcoming season — lap robes, hats of all sizes and description, scarves, mittens, slippers, ponchos, baby blankets, and afghans. The price is right, and all the money from the sale and donations made that day go the town of New Scotland Neighbors Helping Neighbors Fund.

This fund provides help with fuel in an emergency, and helps with electricity, food, and medical equipment for those who are unable to pay at a time of need. It also pays for some of the materials used on Volunteer Day in the town on the first weekend in May each year.

If this is not your polling place, please just stop by and check us out — all are welcome.
