Greenville Laundromat is open 14 hours every day

GREENVILLE — A new Laundromat opened here about three months ago, filling the void left when the town’s long-time Laundromat closed a few years ago.

The Greenville Laundromat, located in a new building behind Rite Aid and next to Family Dollar, is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day, said owner Jim Stryker.  The office, which offers dry cleaning; tailoring; shoe repair; knife and scissor sharpening; and wash, dry, and fold services is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Stryker, who works for the Greene County Highway Department, said that he decided to open in Greenville because he “felt that it needed a Laundromat.”

This is his first business venture, Stryker said, and he plans to open a deli and pizzeria next to the Laundromat.

As a boy, Stryker worked in his aunt and uncle’s Laundromat in Blauvelt, Rockland County, he said.

He moved with his family to Greenville 23 years ago, said Stryker, who is 39.

So far, business at the Greenville Laundromat has “been going very well,” he said.  It’s been busy.
