Ghouls and zombies creep kids out
To the Editor:
Stores should be less scary during Halloween season. It’s a problem for both parents and kids. Some kids get so scared and then their parents have to calm them down when they just want to quickly shop for things.
Regular stores shouldn’t have super scary decorations at all. Jack-o-lanterns, spider webs, bats and black cats are OK, but ghouls and zombies just creep the kids out. They’re just too scary for kids like me.
For example, if you want to go out for ice cream at Stewart’s, the kids won’t even want to go in because of the ghoul hanging from the ceiling.
And even stores that sell Halloween stuff shouldn’t have all of their scariest decorations right in the front of the store. If they have customers with little kids, the kids might be too scared to get past the bloody clown and the zombies and ghouls to get to where they can pick out their costumes.
I mean, most parents won’t even let their kids see that stuff on TV, so why is it OK for them to see it in the stores?
Party stores should have their scariest Halloween decorations in the back of the stores so the older people can go look at them there if they want. And all everyday shops should have kid-friendly Halloween decorations that won’t drive away their customers with young kids.
