Rosemary Centi for town clerk

GUILDERLAND — Democratic incumbent Rosemary Centi is running unopposed for another two-year term as town clerk. She has been Guilderland’s clerk since 2000, and was unopposed in the last three elections.

A graduate of Siena College with a degree in secondary education, Centi has been married for 31 years, and has three children — Daniel, Justin, and Jacqueline.

As town clerk for the past nine years, Centi said she has instituted online access to records and forms, established her office as a passport location, and secured funding for a record-storage facility on Western Avenue.

In her position, Centi said she is responsible for licensing and permitting; she is the marriage officer, the FOIL officer, a passport agent, and the recording secretary for the town board meetings. She is also a secretary to the state’s town clerks association, a registered municipal clerk, past regional director for the state’s town clerks association, and past president of the Albany-Schenectady town clerks association.

“My favorite part of the job is going to the counter to wait on people,” said Centi. “My office is really open; we even have an empty desk for anyone who wants to come in and peruse the records, or just chat. I love to have people do that. And my deputies are also very accessible, and very good at what they do.”
