VOORHEESVILLE — Two students were arrested after they were spotted by a neighbor in a vacant house that had, apparently, been used as a party spot.

The house, located in the village’s Salem Hills development, was empty and had been on the market for some time, said acting Sheriff Craig Apple this week.

At about 7 p.m. on Oct. 6, a neighbor to the house at 25 Severson Hill Road called police when he saw a “suspicious vehicle,” according to a release from the sheriff’s office.  Deputies responded and found Lee Schlomo, 17, of 73 Altamont Rd., and Evan Campana, 18, of 2 Fairfield Dr., who both fled on foot from the house.

Deputies apprehended them and charged them with third-degree burglary, a felony; fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor; and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

The house looked like it had been used as a place for parties, Apple said, and had evidence of what he called typical criminal mischief inside, like broken walls.

Schlomo and Campana were arraigned in Voorheesville’s village court and were released under the supervision of Albany County Probation.
