Fight leads to fire police say
NEW SCOTLAND After a domestic dispute at his home, Robert G. Ferullo, 35, set his house on fire, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.
He set the modest blue house aflame at 99 Youmans Road, near the bottom of the rural dead-end road, after the woman and her three children had left.
“There was an argument which the female party had directed the male party to leave the residence,” a release from the sheriff’s office says. “The female party left the residence with her three children and went to a nearby ice cream shop to wait for relatives.” Ferullo waited at the house for a ride, the release says.
About 40 minutes after the fight, according to the release, Ferullo called 911 to report the fire.
Investigators from the sheriff’s office and an investigator with a trained dog “examined the scene and re-interviewed Robert Ferullo; Ferullo later admitted to setting the fire at the residence because he was upset over the break up,” the release says.
Sheriff’s deputies charged Ferullo with third-degree arson and second-degree criminal mischief, both felonies.
He was arraigned in New Scotland Town Court and remanded to Albany County’s jail on $50,000 bail.
