Tractor-trailer hit bridge, cargo struck minivan

BETHLEHEM — A cargo container struck a minivan on Monday when it was dislodged from a tractor-trailer.

The woman driving the minivan was extricated by the Selkirk Fire Department and emerged with non-threatening injuries, according to a release from the Bethlehem Police.

The tractor-trailer had been headed north on Route 9W at about 5:30 p.m., when it couldn’t fit under the overpass bridge near Corning Hill Road.

The injured driver was taken to Albany Medical Center by Delmar-Bethlehem Emergency Medical Services.

Route 9W was closed for about two hours while crews worked to clear the roadway and the state’s Department of Transportation inspected the bridge for damage.

Bethlehem Police are continuing to investigate and charges are pending.
