ALTAMONT — “We have it all on video,” said Altamont Police Chief Todd Pucci, referring to a May 6 break-in at Altamont Oaks by four young men. Two 19-year-old men were charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy, assault, and burglary — all felonies.

One of four of young men, Pucci said, went into an apartment at the complex at 950 Altamont Boulevard to visit an acquaintance and then came back out to the parking lot where the other three waited; then, all four tied bandannas over their faces and went back to the apartment, this time to rob the resident.

During a scuffle inside the apartment, several bandannas came off; the victim identified two perpetrators from photo arrays and knew the name of a third, said Pucci and Detective Christopher Laurenzo, who made the arrests.

Mohamed M. Othman of 4338 Albany Street in Colonie was arrested on May 22 and Aaron J. Cadogan of 2117 Waterside Way in Cohoes.

The charges against both men are: second-degree robbery aided by another, fourth-degree conspiracy, second-degree assault on a non-participant during a felony, third-degree criminal mischief damaging property valued at more than $250, and first-degree burglary causing injury, all felonies.

They are also charged with endangering the welfare of a child and petit larceny, both misdemeanors; Pucci said that a baby was present in the apartment at the time.

“These are serious charges,” Pucci said, adding that the suspects damaged property, stole things, and injured one of the residents.

For now, Pucci said, three of the four suspects have been indicted by a grand jury, although only Othman and Cadogan have been arrested. Police are looking for the third indicted suspect, whom they have identified as Elijah Mitchell, age 18, Pucci said.

Police are still trying to ascertain the identity of the fourth suspect.
