DUANESBURG — Art lessons for a cause will be offered at Crossroads Gallery on July 19 and 20.

Elisabeth Rolfe-Albright, owner of the shop, has teamed up with artist Matthew Roth to offer the two-day intensive class. It can accommodate any skill level, Rolfe-Albright said, but the course is aimed at students in grades six to nine.

The class costs $45 per student, $35 of which will be donated to the Duanesburg Parks and Recreation Program to help replace equipment vandalized on June 19, she said.

Roth is a graduate of the College of Saint Rose who will soon open an art school. On Thursday, he will be teaching students to paint with acrylics during an intensive five-hour class. A gallery opening for the students’ art will be held on Friday evening.

The Crossroads Gallery opened last February, Rolfe-Albright said, and so far it has offered a clay class and will host a screen-printing course in August.
"It’s kind of a mix of art and wellness," she said. The shop has local pottery and woodworking as well as homeopathic remedies and massage.
Rolfe-Albright, who is not an artist or a masseuse, said of her gallery, "I just kind of bought it all together."
