GPD investigates burglary at GHS
GUILDERLAND Guilderland High School was burglarized on June 24; several musical instruments were stolen along with some multi-media equipment, according to Michael Marcelle, the interim superintendent.
“The break-in occurred in the 500 wing,” he said, which has classrooms for foreign languages. “We have cameras in the building and a video tape,” he went on. “The police are following all the leads.”
The investigation is being headed by the school resource officer, Brian Forte, a member of the Guilderland Police Department who is stationed at the high school.
No suspects have yet been arrested, but, said Marcelle, “If they are apprehended, we will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.”
No vandalism or destruction of the school building was involved, Marcelle said. “It just looks like a theft.”
Asked the value of the stolen goods, Marcelle said, “We’re putting prices on things now, and seeing what was stolen and what was taken home for the summer.”
He estimated the loss at “thousands of dollars.”
“We’ve reported it to our insurance carrier,” he said, adding, “We have a deductible.”
