Thacher trail remains closed after July 2 injury

VOORHEESVILLE — An injury that occurred on the Indian Ladder Trail last Sunday at John Boyd Thacher State Park has left the trail closed over a week later.

A 60-year-old Latham woman was struck by a falling rock while walking the trail on July 2. The woman was transported to Albany Medical Center and the Indian Ladder Trail was closed, according to a statement from Randy Simons, a public information officer for the New York State Department of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

“The Indian Ladder Trail is closed until further notice pending the investigation which will involve another thorough safety review,” said Simons, in the statement.
