Couple dies in car accident
WESTERLO Last Wednesday, a Medusa couple died after colliding with another car.
Winfred Hurley, 77, was driving a 2001 Hyundai Accent westbound on Route 404 with her husband, John Hurley, 78, as a passenger. At about 1 p.m., when she failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of routes 404 and 401, a 1987 Cadillac heading north on Route 401 hit the Hyundai; the car was driven by Edward Kelly, 73, of Greenville, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Department.
Winfred Hurley was pronounced dead at the scene by Albany County Coroner John Keegan, police say. John Hurley was taken by Med Flight to Albany Medical Center. He died at 9 p.m. that night.
Kelly was transported to Albany Medical Center by the Greenville Rescue Squad. Last Wednesday afternoon, he was listed in fair condition.
Yesterday, a hospital spokesperson was unable to provide information Kelly’s condition or whether he had been discharged or not.
