Polsinelli takes game to Georgia

GUILDERLAND — Guilderland High School graduate Nick Polsinelli is taking his baseball talents to the south this summer.

Polsinelli, who completed his freshman year at The College of Saint Rose is playing this summer for the Augusta Nationals of the Great South League.

Through June 23, Polsinelli, who plays in the infield and pitches, has played in eight games and has a batting average of .300 and a slugging percentage of .400. He has six hits in 20 at bats. He has scored four runs and hit a triple so far this season. He has also driven in one run and walked three times.

Polsinelli has pitched in two games so far this season. He has two losses and an earned run average of 3.00.

At Saint Rose, Polsinelli finished his freshman campaign fourth on the team with a .242 batting average after getting off to a strong start. He had 32 hits in 132 at bats and scored 12 runs.

Polsinelli hit eight doubles and two home runs and drove in 13 runs during the spring. He finished the season with a .348 slugging percentage.

He played in all 38 games during the spring for the Golden Knights, playing mostly in the infield. He also made seven appearances on the pitcher’s mound picking up one win and two losses. He had the second lowest ERA on the team with a 3.27.
