15-year-old hit on Carman Road
GUILDERLAND Michelle Lentini began a familiar trip last Friday, but ended up spending several days in Albany Medical Center.
The 15-year-old Guilderland High School freshman was crossing Carman Road, near her home, to visit a friend when she was struck by a car, said her father, Mark Lentini. “There are no crosswalks there,” he said.
At about 4:30 in the afternoon, Nicole Pucci, 25, of Latham, driving a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse, was heading towards Western Avenue on Carman when she hit Lentini near Carman Plaza, according to the Guilderland Police.
Lentini was in the center median when she was hit, her father said, and she suffered two pelvic fractures, and a spinal fracture. He expects that she will be able to compete with the Guilderland dance squad again when school starts in September, he said.
“I don’t want to assign fault to anyone,” Mr. Lentini said yesterday. “We’re just hoping for my daughter’s speedy recovery.”
He said that his daughter, who suffered a concussion, did not remember anything past getting off the school bus earlier.
Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor, according to police, and anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to call 356-1501.
