Police charge Lavallo for January Xtra Mart robbery

Gregory Lavallo

GUILDERLAND — An Amsterdam man was arrested last week five months after he allegedly robbed a convenience store at gunpoint.

Gregory J. Lavallo, 25, of 12 McNeir Ave., Amsterdam, was arrested at the Guilderland Police Department on June 4, after a joint investigation between Guilderland and the Rotterdam Police Department.

On Jan. 11, Lavallo entered the Xtra Mart, at 3903 Carman Road, and displayed what appeared to be a pistol, which he pointed at the victim, according to a Guilderland Police report.

He ordered the victim to open the cash register and he stole money and cigarettes.

Lavallo was arrested for second-degree robbery, a felony, and second-degree menacing with a weapon and petit larceny, both misdemeanors.

He was arraigned in front of Judge John Bailey in the Guilderland Town Court and was remanded to Albany County’s jail without bail.
