ATV owner spots stolen Yamaha

KNOX — After a fight Saturday night, two men were arrested for possessing a stolen all-terrain vehicle.

Matthew Robinson, 29, of Middleburgh, and Corey Wiles, 30, of Worcester, Mass. were in possession of a stolen 2005 Yamaha YFZ 450 four-wheeler and trying to transport it from Middleburgh to Massachusetts, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Department.

At about 8:20 p.m. on Saturday night, the sheriff’s department says, it received cell-phone call from a man who said he was on the Berne-Altamont Road, following a pickup truck hauling his stolen ATV.  While deputies were on the way to the scene, the truck stopped near Pleasant Valley Road and a fight ensued, the department says.

Robinson and Wiles then took the ATV from the truck and fled down the Berne-Altamont Road, and deputies located them a short time later and took them into custody, according to the department.

Robinson and Wiles were both charged with criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, and arraigned before Knox Town Justice Jean Gagnon, who remanded each to the Albany County’s jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Robinson was treated at Albany Medical Center for injuries sustained from the owner of the ATV.

Police say the ATV was stolen on April 23 from the town of Middleburgh.
