Together we will keep Kenneth’s memory alive

Kenneth’s MC Run, at Thacher Park on June 6, attracted more bikers than organizers anticipated. Here they listen to Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple and State Senator George Amedore. Proceeds will benefit a scholarship fund for Berne-Knox-Westerlo students who are furthering their education in the field of social services.

To the Editor:

We would like to take a moment to thank everyone who made the first annual Kenneth’s MC Run possible. There are no words to describe the feelings and emotions that were felt on June 6.

The sun was shining, the breeze was blowing, and the clouds were floating in the sky; it was a beautiful day. As the volunteers started showing up and shortly after the bikes started rolling in, we knew it was going to be a wonderful day.

There is no way to individually thank everyone who helped make this happen. A special thank-you goes to all, including the motorcycle clubs, the family and friends who decided to come and ride, the volunteers, the news reporters, the walk-ins, and everyone else who was there with us, whether in person or in spirit, who showed their support to this little boy who was taken too soon.

We would also like to thank all of our sponsors and supporters who helped make this possible, including Thacher Park, for allowing us to use its facility, helping direct the bikes, and bringing us more picnic tables when we ran out of places to sit. The turnout was better than any of us thought possible, and together we will keep Kenneth’s memory alive.

Keep your eyes and ears open for more functions in the future, and mark your calendars for the second annual Kenneth’s MC Run on June 4, 2016 — more details will follow. Let’s roll!

Editor’s note: Kenneth White, a Berne-Knox-Westerlo kindergartner, was slain in December, his body found in a snow bank in Knox, across the street from his aunt’s trailer where he lived with two of his sisters; his cousin has been arrested for murder.
