Drugs seized as two women are arrested in Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM — Two women were arrested on felony drug charges by Bethlehem Police: Danielle L. Lake, 37, of Richford Vermont and Alycia M. Rafuse, 24, of Delmar.

Bethlehem Police said, in a press release, that events unfolded this way:

On Thursday, June 7, at 6:10 p.m., police say Lake was seated in a car in the area of Delaware Avenue and Elsmere Avenue in Delmar when police “observed evidence of crack cocaine usage in plain view.” Lake, who was wanted by Albany Police on a bench warrant, was taken into custody by Bethlehem Police.

Police obtained a warrant to search the home at 269 Delaware Avenue in Delmar, where they seized 5.7 pounds of marijuana, 228 Oxycodone pills, 11 individual decks of heroin, eight Methadone pills, and three rocks of crack cocaine. Rafuse was arrested at the home.

Lake and Rafuse were each charged with two felony counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal possession of marijuana — both felonies; and one misdemeanor count each of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally using drug paraphernalia.

Both Lake and Rafuse were arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court by Judge Ryan Donovan, and remanded to Albany County’s jail — Rafuse in lieu of $15,000 bail, and Lake in lieu of $20,000 bail. Both are scheduled to appear in Bethlehem town Court on Tuesday, June 12, at 5 p.m. for preliminary hearings.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information on Lake or Rafuse is asked to contact Bethlehem Police at 518-439-9973.
