Dutch laxmen stampeded by Bison

GUILDERLAND — It ended in overtime.

Shaker’s Stefan Dabkowski helped pull off one of the greatest upsets in Section II lacrosse history as his overtime goal gave the number-10 seeded Blue Bison a 7-6 win over the second seed Guilderland on Friday afternoon.

Dabkowski’s goal came with three seconds left in overtime in the Class A quarterfinal.

Shaker jumped out to a 4-0 lead midway through the second quarter but Guilderland twice tied the game.

Dutchmen senior Aaron Cahill tied the game for the second time as his fourth-quarter tally sent the game into overtime.

Junior midfielder Rory Nunamacher scored two goals and Quinn Connell, Travis Moore, and Brian Linehan each scored one.

Connell dished out three assists and Paul Jones and Kip Stillman each had one helper.

Guilderland had several Suburban Council all-stars on its team this spring.

Senior Nick Koss was voted the top goalie in the league. Stillman was named a first-team defenseman and Kevin Kost was named a first-team defensive midfielder.

The Dutchmen finished the season with a 17-3 overall record.
