Please recycle properly

To the Editor:

A big thank-you to all the people and businesses who recycle their paper and cardboard products and place them in our green fiber bins.

However, there are still many who are not breaking down the boxes or filling a square box with broken-down boxes. Both of these methods lead to wasted space, which causes overflowing bins and then “trash” scattered in the parking lot.

Also, we’ve come across plastic bags filled with shredded paper. Please put shredded material in a paper, not a plastic, bag.

We’ve also come across people putting a lot of plastic containers in the bins. While most plastic is recyclable, these bins are for paper products only.

So please let’s all do our part for the environment and keep recycling, but put the recyclables in the appropriate places.
