Daise charged with stabbing man she knew

BETHLEHEM — A woman was charged with stabbing a man in the Delaware Plaza parking lot on Sunday afternoon, May 6.

The man had stab wounds on his arm, ear, and hand, according to a release from the Bethlehem Police;  the injuries required treatment from Delmar-Bethlehem Emergency Medical Services on the scene.

Nahjayyah Daise, 21, of Albany, was arrested at the scene, charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.

Daise knew the victim and, the release said, “This was not a random act.” The weapon was recovered at the scene and there are no suspects at large, the release said.

Daise was arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court by Judge Ryan Donovan and remanded to the Albany County Jail in lieu of $4,000 cash bail or bond. A return court date was set for Tuesday, June 5.

Bethlehem Police are continuing the investigation and request that anyone who witnessed the incident call 518-439-9973.
