A proper fund-raiser for Faulisi

By Zach Simeone

VOORHEESVILLE — Before heading to Cannes Film Festival in France, Chris Faulisi will be showing an early cut of his film, A Proper Violence, at Clayton A. Bouton High School, his alma mater. With enough help, Faulisi will look to find distribution for his movie at the festival’s Marché du Film, one of the world’s top marketplaces for buying and selling films.

A Proper Violence is a film that looks at the ambiguity of morality, with a rapist as its protagonist.

“There’re no good guys; there’re no bad guys; we’re all just guys,” he said.

“When you think of a serial rapist, you think they’re the most evil and terrible person. But what’s the motivation behind rape? What makes this person human?”

Those interested in attending can send an e-mail to [email protected], and they will be placed on a guest list. The film will be shown at Clayton A. Bouton High School on Saturday, May 1, at 6 p.m., and on Sunday, May 2 at 2 p.m. Both showings will be followed by question-and-answer sessions with Faulisi, who directed and co-wrote the film.

“There are no right answers or wrong answers,” Faulisi said of his film. “It’s a discussion piece more than anything else.”
