Thompsons Lake boat launch improved for $160K

BERNE — Improvements to the Thompsons Lake boat launch in Berne have been completed at a cost of $160,000; the project was funded through the state’s NY Works Program, according to a release from the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation.

The boat launch is owned by the town of Berne and managed by the DEC through a cooperative management agreement with the town.

Improvements include widening and repaving of the launch area, installing a new retaining wall, building a new informational kiosk, putting up a new entrance sign, designating parking spaces with painted stripes, and landscaping with plants for erosion control and visual screening.
