Rabbit Ramble runs in sunshine

GUILDERLAND The 2010 Rabbit Ramble couldn’t have fallen on a better day.
The 141 runners and 11 walkers of the four-mile race got to participate in the warmest Rabbit Ramble in its 16-year history on Saturday at Guilderland High School.
Race Director Phil Carducci couldn’t even remember the last time the event had a warm day. “It was probably the best conditions we’ve ever had,” he said on Tuesday. “It’s usually on the colder side things. But this time, it was nice and sunny and no one complained.”
The four-mile course started at the high school on School Road, went across Depot Road to Meadowdale Road, and back again. “It was quite flat and easy,” Carducci said.
The top male finisher and overall winner was Chris Donais, 23, of Troy with a time of 22:06. The top female finisher was Jen Adams, 23, of Troy with a time of 24:51, good enough for 10th place overall.
According to Carducci, Donais and Adams work together in Troy and came as partners on Saturday. “I thought that was kind of neat,” said Carducci, adding, “There were a lot of new faces this year.”
Seniors from the Voorheesville track and field team the team that Carducci helps coach provided volunteer help for the Ramble. “They looked like a real team on Saturday,” Carducci said.
Carducci is happy with the number of people who showed up, but he’s always looking for more.
“The whole day focused around the great weather,” he said. “It was perfect.”
