VOORHEESVILLE — Over $600,000 in cuts are proposed for Voorheesville schools next year.

The cuts include all clubs that aren’t scholarship or service related, for a savings of $316,151; boys volleyball and boys freshman basketball, for a savings of $6,051; a mechanic, a summer mower, a bus route, and a building checker, for a savings of $77,840; a clerical position, for a savings of $12,060; and a teaching assistant, for a savings of $21,000.

Non-personnel reductions include Board of Cooperative Education Services information technology instruction, for a savings of $50,000; fuel costs, for a savings of $5,000; supplies, for a savings of $6,500; special education tuition, for a savings of $100,000; debt services, for a savings of $61,433; unemployment insurance, for a savings of $20,000; voluntary staff concessions, for a savings of $15,888; and Empire savings of $7,267.

Classroom cuts include Spanish level five in the high school, for a savings of $30,878; instrument lessons, for a savings of $28,681; a technology or art section in the high school, for a savings of $37,168; family consumer science in the high school, for a savings of $17,403; a social studies section in the high school, for a savings of $12,669; a science section in the high school, for a savings of $12,060; and special education, for a savings of $35,000.
