Thousands of dollars raised for Duanesburg Community Center

The Duanesburg Area Community Center recently held its first “Laps for the DACC” fundraiser to raise money for a new pool vacuum.

Members who participated were allowed up to two hours to swim their promised laps. Family, friends, and co-workers either pledged flat donations or contributed per length swam. A total of $2,922 was raised.

Food was donated by Whole Foods and Hannaford markets to feed the swimmers and participants. Dick’s Sporting Goods donated the prizes won by the top fundraisers.

The Duanesburg Area Community Center offers a standard 25-yard short-course pool to area residents and is home to the Electric Eels swim team, a three-time State champion.
