GUILDERLAND — A Guilderland man accused of cyber-stalking a young woman with whom he went to Guilderland High School has been sentenced to three years of probation and was issued a five-year restraining order.

Robert Calabrese, 23, pleaded guilty on March 10, in Guilderland Town Court in front of Judge John Bailey, to criminal contempt of court, first-degree stalking, aggravated harassment, and resisting arrest.

Calabrese was arrested on Oct. 15, 2010, by State Police in New Scotland, for repeatedly sending Nicole Hart, also a Guilderland resident, “harassing, annoying, and threatening instant messages over the Internet,” according to police reports. Calabrese is believed to have used over 70 different screen names to contact Hart, according to court records.

Some of the screen names Calabrese used to contact Hart include “EternallyDamned”; “makinglifehell4u”; “lifemadehell4u”; and “xYouWillSufferx.”

In a signed statement from Aug. 7 2010, Hart stated that Calabrese had been harassing her since 2008.

“I do not know why this person has targeted me, nor do I know him from my past. I want this person to stop harassing me and I want this person arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” said Hart in August.

Calebrese was charged with criminal contempt of court because Hart had been issued an order of protection in Oct. 2009, which he violated when he contacted her in July 2010.

In addition to the stalking and harassment, Calabrese was charged with resisting arrest because he became physically combative and had to be restrained to be handcuffed when he was arrested in October 2009, according to a police report.
