Sisson-Chrysler plans to run to keep BKW board seat

BERNE — Lillian Sisson-Chrysler says she will be running to keep her seat — the only one in play — on the Berne-Knox-Westerlo School Board.

Sisson-Chrysler, a licensed practical nurse from Westerlo, was elected to her first term in 2015 after running unopposed, and will be running for another three-year term on the five-member board.

District Clerk Denise Robinson said that Sisson-Chrysler and Martin Szinger had both picked up petitions to run for the unpaid post.

Szinger, a software engineer and another Westerlo resident, ran last year unsuccessfully for a seat on the school board in a five-way race for three seats.

Petitions to run are due back by April 16. Each petition must have at least 25 signatures or 2 percent of the district voters in the last election, whichever is the higher amount; for BKW, that amount is 25. The election is May 15.
