Stuyvesant Plaza waives tenants’ rent for two weeks

GUILDERLAND — Stuyvesant Plaza announced on Thursday that it will waive rent payments for all retail and restaurant tenants for a two-week period effective Friday, March 20.

A release from the plaza called the move “unprecedented” in the plaza’s 60-year history and said it is in response to the unforeseen challenges and losses encountered by businesses as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

This policy applies to the shopping center’s 60 retail tenants, including all small businesses and restaurants, regional, and national companies.

The indoor spaces of shopping malls were required to close by 8 p.m. Thursday night, according to a directive from four neighboring governors. Stuyvesant Plaza, located at Route 20 and Fuller Road in Guilderland, is an open-air mall.

Stuyvesant Plaza’s current published operating hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m.

Hours for individual shops and restaurants will vary while several restaurants will offer takeout and delivery. Dine-in will be closed in accordance with state regulations. Shoppers are encouraged to contact each store or restaurant for details.
