87 vote in uncontested Voorheesville elections

VOORHEESVILLE — With no contenders running this year against incumbents Mayor Robert Conway, Trustees Richard Berger and John Stevens, and Village Justice Kenneth Connolly, only 87 people turned out to vote in Tuesday’s village elections.

The village has 2,767 residents.

Mayor Conway garnered 83 votes; Justice Connolly, 81 votes; Trustee Berger 85 votes; and Trustee Stevens 80 votes, according to unofficial results from Village Hall.

“I really enjoy what I’m doing and serving the people,” said Conway, explaining in an earlier interview with The Enterprise why he is running for a second two-year term as mayor. “We have a really great village,” said Conway. “And we still have some projects I’d like to see finished and I get a sense of accomplishment doing so. Sometimes, we see government on a national or state level and I don’t know if those individuals see immediate results, whereas at the basic level, government is very responsive.”
