Berne Summerfest seeks artisans and vendors

To the Editor:

Berne’s fourth annual Summerfest, a fun-filled day of music, games, delicious food, demonstrations, fireworks, and more, will be held this year on Saturday, Aug. 27, between noon and dark.  The rain date is Aug. 28.

We are now offering an early registration opportunity for artisans, crafters, and other interested parties to participate in the event.   Potters, tinsmiths, weavers, jewelers, painters, woodcrafters, and all other artisans are welcome.

Food vendors with tasty snacks, treats, and hot items may wish to join the festivities.  Purveyors of food products — honey, vegetables, fruits, United States Department of Agriculture-packaged meats, and other cooking staples — are welcome to set up in our expanded farmers’ market.  Musicians, actors, puppeteers, and bands can entertain the crowds from  our performance stage.

Individuals or organizations interested in giving workshops or demonstrations are also invited to participate.  Saw-sharpening, wool-spinning, pottery-making, sheep-shearing, and other country skills would be welcome.

Admission is free for all vendors, but registration is necessary.  Registration forms may be found on the town of Berne website, or at the town clerk’s office in the Berne Town Hall, on Helderberg Trail.

Contact Anita Clayton, clerk, town of Berne,  for more information at or call (518) 872-1448 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday, or between 9 a.m. and noon on Saturdays.

Each new year is better than the last. Don’t miss out!  Get your registration in early, as spaces are limited. Join the fun and profit. It is sure to bring joy to all who participate.
