Handy Andy collared for thefts in Voorheesville
VOORHEESVILLE Andrew J. Myers, of Handy Andy Home Improvements, has been stealing jewelry from the people who hire him for house repairs, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.
An analyst in the office going through pawn records noticed a class ring from Voorheesville’s high school had been pawned, said Captain William Riley. “That’s what prompted the investigation,” Riley said.
The investigation is ongoing, Riley said, and anyone who has hired Myers and suspects that he has taken something should contact the office. He has been stealing things from clients for at least six months, Riley said.
The property that the sheriff’s office recovered from pawn shops had garnered several hundred dollars for Myers, Riley said.
Myers, 54, was arrested near his home at 49A North Main St. in Voorheesville and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, in the village of Voorheesville. He was also charged with criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, and two counts of petit larceny, a misdemeanor, in the city of Albany.
Myers was remanded to Albany County’s jail without bail.
