GUILDERLAND — Sheron J. Mills, 24, of Schenectady, was arrested on Feb. 23 by Guilderland Police, who say that surveillance video shows he started a fight at the EbLens Store and also caused $5,000 in damage to a piece of anti-theft equipment.

A video of the fight, posted on Twitter, has garnered a good deal of public attention.

Mills was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a felony; and with disorderly conduct — fighting and violent behavior, a violation, according to his arrest report. The fight occurred at about 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

EbLens sells clothing and footwear.

Police charged Mills after talking with the store manager and reviewing security-camera footage, the report says.

Mills recklessly damaged a “magnetometer,” the device near the entrance that makes a loud noise when merchandise that has not been paid for leaves the store.

Mills was taken into custody without incident and arraigned that day before Judge Denise Randall, the report says.
