Firefighters host breakfast to benefit burned-out family

To the Editor:

The Westmere Fire Department and McKownville Fire Department will be hosting a pancake breakfast fundraiser.  All proceeds of this event will go to the Morrissey/Sawyer Fund.  This fund is for the family who lost their home to a tragic fire on Jan. 24.

The pancake breakfast will be held on Sunday, Feb. 21, at the Westmere Fire Department at 1741 Western Ave. in Guilderland.  This event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon, serving delicious pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and hash browns.

Both the Westmere and McKownville volunteer firemen will be there, serving, cooking, and cleaning up to help the cause. Adults are $8, kids are $5, and kids under 5 are free.

If you cannot make the event and wish to donate to this great cause, you can make donations to the Morrissey/Sawyer Fund, care of Key Bank, 1196 Western Ave., Albany, NY 12203.

We appreciate the community’s support and hope to see you there.

Anthony Cannistraci, first vice president

Westmere Fire Department
