Coleman collared for drug possession
GUILDERLAND An Albany County Democratic Committeeman was arrested in Guilderland on Monday morning for having drugs in his car.
According to Guilderland Police Captain Curtis Cox, Samuel Coleman was pulled over by officer Paul Mahan, at roughly 9:20 a.m. on Monday, for speeding and failure to keep right. Coleman was stopped near the intersection of Interstate 87 and Western Avenue.
When Mahan approached the car, he saw two marijuana plant stems, said Cox. A search of the car revealed that Coleman also had a gray digital scale with cocaine residue, and a small bag that also contained cocaine residue.
Coleman, 40, is a member of the Albany County Democratic Committee, serving Ward 12. He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor, and failure to keep right, an infraction, said Cox. Coleman will appear in Guilderland Town Court on Feb. 24.
