Highway drug bust leads to 8 years in state prison
GUILDERLAND — Last June, Shamel Greene was stopped on I- 87 in Guilderland by police who found illegal drugs in his car. Greene, 35, of Utica, was sentenced on Friday to eight years in state prison.
Greene had pleaded guilty on Nov. 21 to second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony. He appeared on Jan. 26 before Judge Peter A. Lynch in Albany County Court for his sentencing, which also includes five years of post-release supervision.
On the evening of June 17, 2017, Guilderland Police had found 333 grams of heroin, 88 grams of cocaine, and some marijuana in a bag in the back of the car he was driving, according to a release from the Albany county district Attorney’s Office.
Assistant District Attorney Alexander Scher of the Street Crimes Unit prosecuted this case.
