NEW SCOTLAND — Six State Troopers arrested Scott R. Davidson at his Krumkill Road home on Friday after taking 80 marijuana plants out of his apartment, according to Lieutenant Michael Tietz, with the State Police’s Community Narcotics Enforcement Team.

Police acted on information that Davidson, 46, was growing the drug, Tietz said, without elaborating on where the tip came from.  The plants were in various stages of growth, he said, some being mature.  “Sophisticated growing equipment, scales and packaging materials” were also taken out of the apartment, according to police.

Davidson is an adjunct professor in the University at Albany’s marketing department — he contributed to an article titled “Examining Chemical Dependency Providers’ IT Needs” in March of 2007.

Not far from the university’s uptown campus, Davidson’s apartment, in an old house covered in beige siding and split into several flats with a muddy driveway looped through the back yard, is in New Scotland, at 573 Krumkill Rd.

The size of the crop taken from the apartment was unremarkable, Tietz said, and Davidson has had no prior arrests. 

He is charged with third-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a class E felony, and unlawful growing of marijuana in violation of New York’s Public Health Law. 

He was released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to be in New Scotland Town Court on Jan. 28.
