Park and facilities improvements are due to Knox super
To the Editor:
In the Jan. 5 issue of this paper, Earl Barcomb, Knox town councilman, states that the town board will schedule an annual tour of town facilities, and that the town has addressed many maintenance issues relating to town facilities. Mr. Barcomb also mentions that “we” have begun a Town Park Improvement Plan, which includes applying for grants to implement the work.
I would like to point out that these efforts were initiated by Vas Lefkaditis, Knox town supervisor. Last year’s walk-through of town facilities was the first one conducted by the town and was one of the first initiatives taken by Supervisor Lefkaditis. The walk-through found many problems with town facilities. Supervisor Lefkaditis also found money to do some of the repairs.
The Town Park Improvement Plan was also Supervisor Lefkaditis’s initiative and he has been pushing for the park improvement since day one. Both the facilities and the park have long been neglected.
It is important to note that the facilities’ walk-through, subsequent remedial actions, and the park improvement planning were initiated by Supervisor Lefkaditis.
