GUILDERLAND — The beat of a drum sounded in the clear winter air on Tuesday morning, ricocheting off the Helderbergs as a band of five walked the road that wends its way along the base of the escarpment.

Dawn Jordan, who led the study of hydrofracking for the town, took her seat at the board table this month — a position she lost in the 2011 election.

Town board members have plans for 2014  that include repairing storm-damaged roads, developing the local economy, making long-term plans for land use, and saving a historic barn.

With few changes from November's elections, New Year's Day in Knox saw the town board reappoint current committee members and officials.
