Photos: Young teens frame their surroundings

LeeAna Doolin, 14, said her favorite picture was one of a horizon, taken early in the morning while she was standing in a field near her house. The yellow sun and blue sky shed together various hues on the surrounding clouds.

Laura Simpson, 14, liked her picture of the East Berne Fire Company’s garage, taken from its stairway. Her father is a member, she said, and she hopes to one day join the company.

Kelley Doolin, 15, has raised goats for milk and for show for about a year. She liked her black-and-white picture of four of them, running together, she said, because they look free.

Axton Pulliam, 13, took one of his favorite pictures behind the Octagon Barn, a popular venue in Knox, where hayrolls were scattered in a rural landscape. In addition to each photographer’s chosen subjects, the group’s assigned ones were “Main Street,” a landscape, the Berne library, the bell tower of the Helderberg Evangelical Lutheran Church, and the town park.
